And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel. Numbers 18:20
When the Lord divided Canaan among Israel the tribe of Levi received no share of the land. God said to Aaron simply, “I am thy part and thine inheritance,” which made him richer than all his brethren and richer than all the rulers and wealthy merchants. There is a spiritual principle here for every priest of the Most High God which is every true believer in Christ and follower of His ways.
The believer who has God for their treasure already has all things. Many ordinary treasures on Earth may be denied us, or if we are allowed to have them, the enjoyment of them will be muted as compared to the love and spiritual gifts of God that these worldly gifts can never substitute. These worldly gifts never truly satisfy, will never be a necessity for our happiness, and if we must see these worldly possessions go, our loss will be as if we actually lost nothing. As believers our treasures are truly not in or of this world as Christ said, “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven.” Matt 6:19-20
